My dog was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. She's coughing a lot and the vet is saying the cancer is very aggressive in that it has grown 4x since August and is now the size of her heart. We're deciding what to do but don't have enough information about the disease. Can someone please help?

An aggressive lung tumor is never good news and the coughing you report indicates that her lung function is being affected. I recommend referral of her xrays to an oncologist if surgery is an option (one discrete tumor affecting one lobe for example) but if there is evidence of spread then palliative care and maintaining a good quality of life with a view to euthanasia when she is no longer able to complete her day to day routine comfortably may be recommended. You may request a consult to discuss in more detail. Quality of life guides are available to develop an overall plan such as from university of Ohio veterinary school
