Why is my house-trained pet suddenly having accidents indoors?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Other | Unknown - Other | Female | unspayed | 4 months and 24 days old | 100 lbs

Penelope had been using the bathroom in the house this week. She's hasn't done that since she was a little baby. I let her out ever 2-3 hours and she stays outside all that she wants. What do I need to do?

Reinforce litter box training. Do not give Penelope free run of the house until she is using the box or going outside regularly. Use praise and rewards each time she uses the litter box or eliminates outside. Use an enzymatic cleaner such as Nature's Miracle to thoroughly clean soiled areas. If you notice increased thirst, straining to urinate, bloody urine or foul smelling urine then have her examined by your veterinarian. Pot belly pigs can get UTIs just like dogs and cats.
