My dog has chronic vomiting, neck bulge, pukes water. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 35 lbs

i have a dog who is an Australian Shepard/sharpei mix she has a chronic vomiting/regurgitation problem. all the vet told us is to give her antibiotics but it never changed anything. she eats grain free food and does better on that food. when she eats she gets almost like a bulge on her neck that if you push on it she pukes. we spread her feeding out and she does better but she stills pukes. she will also often puke up water.

If your vet has not performed a chest x-ray looking for a condition called megaesophagus, this needs to be done immediately. You don't mention Sadie's age, but this can be a condition that's present from birth or one that is acquired later in life. I would recommend you seek a second opinion immediately, as these dogs are prone to developing aspiration pneumonia.
