Why does my dog sleep in her bed when I'm alone, but with us?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shorthaired Pointer (duplicate) | Female | spayed | 1 year old

My husband works out of town and I don't mind if Paisley sleeps with me when he's gone, the company and security is nice. Lately she refuses to come up and chooses her dog bed, which was never the case before. However, when my husband is home she jumps up to sleep with us. I don't know why things changed all of a sudden? It's so weird!

Dogs can change where they like to sleep, and that is a normal behavior. I would not worry about it, she may choose to sleep with you again when he's out of town. Likely, Paisley is happy your husband has come home, and wants to get love from him while he is there.
