Bleeding from the vulva is normal in intact female dogs during their heat cycle. But if Riley isn't currently in heat, or if the amount of blood you're seeing is more than normal for her, then I would be concerned that something else may be going on. Bleeding from this area can be caused by bladder stones, infections, a bleeding disorder of some kind, or even a vaginal tumor. It would be best to have Riley examined by a vet as soon as possible to determine what is causing the bleeding and get her started on appropriate treatment.

Emma's vulva looks swollen, and vulvar swelling along with blood tinged discharge can be a part of a normal heat cycle. If she is acting strange however I would be a little more concerned about a uterine infection or bladder issue causing these symptoms. If you don't think this could be a normal heat cycle I would recommend seeing your veterinarian for an examination.

She does seem old but it isn't impossible. If she has gone a long time without a heat cycle then I would certainly have your vet take a look at her to ensure there isn't something else going on like a tumor in the uterus or a pyometra (an infection in the uterus) or a severe urinary tract infection. Your vet will be able to recommend the best course of action to ensure she is healthy. I hope this helps!
