My cat has raw, bloody, puss-filled skin. Is it serious? What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 7 months old | 7 lbs

My poor cat has had bald, raw, bloody patches around his tail and scrotum which have a thick puss like liquid seeping out in large amounts. I've tried neosporin and rubbing alcohol but it's just getting worse. We can't afford a vet and my daughter's in love with him so I don't know what to do! Please just tell me if this is serious or not? He's never had vaccines and only been outside maybe three times. It will kill my daughter if something happens to this cat. Thank you!

I'm not sure how serious it is but it needs to be treated ASAP, he will probably need systemic antibiotics. You have to take him to the vet, if you can't afford it contact a cat charity in your area of living and they should be able to help.
