My senior dog barks all night. Can I bring him in without accidents?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 11 years and 9 months old | 25 lbs

My dog has been barking the whole night lately even though he has food, water, space to roam around, and a warm bed. It's so cold outside that he doesn't take all the time he needs I pees inside. I am debating whether to keep him inside overnight and risk him peeing or leave him in his bed in the garage and listen to him bark the whole night.

I would go with the decision to let him indoors, he is 11, he is an old man. Keep him in a confined area where if he does go to the toilet, it' s easy for you to clean. Put a nice comfortable bed down, and put him to bed with a positive reinforcement such as a biscuit. Ignore if he does whine, he needs to learn the bed is where he rests and does not get disturbed , but he has to do the same too !
