My dog has diarrhea and bloody scooting after a new treat. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 4 years and 6 months old | 43 lbs

My dog ate a portion of new type of treat today (scotts pork skin donut). Maybe 6 hours later had diarrhea. Just woke up to go out again 4 hours after first diarrhea, strained but not much came out. When she came in a scooted on floor there was blood on the carpet. Check her butt, not a lot of blood, dabbed up a few drops with towel. What else should I do to help her?

It could be that Cricket developed a bit of colitis, inflammation if the colon. You can help her by providing a light, easy to digest diet such as chicken and rice for 3-4 days and give a probiotic paste, like prokolin 2 syringe graduation twice a day. If the blood should increase or if she should be more lethargic, have her checked over.
