Why does my dog have a large scab after recovering from a bee sting?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Thank you. Dr Melanie. Ruby recently had an anaphylactic shock most likely from bee sting. She has recovered so maybe that could be the trauma?

You are welcome! I'm sorry that Ruby recently suffered from anaphylactic shock, but I'm glad she has recovered. More likely, the wound occurring from her rubbing up against something sharp, hurting herself outside, or self trauma from itching a scratch. The bee sting wouldn't cause such a large scab, but while in shock, if she was struggling to breathe, she could have hurt herself that way if she was rolling around a lot. I'm glad she is better! :-)
