Is it safe to leave flea and tick shampoo on my dog overnight?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered

I was bathing my dog with Adams flea and tick, but while soaking him, he ran off and hurt my hand. I'm trying to rinse him but he keeps running away.... And I can't grab him with only one hand. Is it okay to leave the soap in till tomorrow when I can get some help

No, it's really not recommended and could cause him severe irritation and toxicity symptoms if you leave it on him, try getting help ASAP in order to rinse him and in the future avoid using these flea and ticks shampoo products, they are not effective and are generally not safe.

I'm sorry Junior hurt your hand! No, it's not ok to leave the flea and tick shampoo on Junior until tomorrow. I would take him inside and try to rinse him off in the shower or the tub. Leaving it on could do damage to his skin.
