Is it normal for my cockatiel hen to lay only one egg after mating?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 11 months old

My cockatiels mated on the 10th of February and Luna laid her first egg around the 14/15th of Feb. She has not laid any other eggs since. Her first egg is a solid white colour and is well shaped. She does not look like she is in any distress or egg boind. Is it okay for a cockatiel hen to lay a single egg?

One egg is unusual but fine as long as she isn't showing any symptoms of being egg bound. Symptoms include lethargy, loss of appetite, swollen abdomen, sitting at the bottom of the cage, feather puffed out and straining to lay. Be sure she has access to a fortified seed mix, pelleted food and a calcium supplement.
