Can Petco vets help determine my puppy's age, and is there a fee?

Can I go to petco and have help with figuring out how old my puppy is? For free??

Yes you can take Lucky into Petco to have help figuring out how old he is, but you will likely have to pay a fee for it. The vet would be the best person to figure out his age, and you will need to make an appointment for it. That will be an office visit fee, but you will also get a full physical exam. The vet can advise about vaccines for Lucky as well. I hope this helps!

Unfortunately, there are no veterinary clinics located in Petco stores in your area - yet. You can get vaccinations done at Vetco vaccination clinics, as well as heartworm and flea and tick prevention. Be sure you get Tars in before he is 6 months of age, and he won't need a heartworm test. He should also be dewormed against intestinal parasites. Petco does offer exams for puppies, just call your local Petco to make an appointment with the veterinary clinic. I think it's an excellent idea you do a vet check before purchasing, that is extremely responsible ownership! A microchip typically costs around $45-$80. Speak to the clinic to get an exact price. My two dogs are due for their annual examinations with vet. Do you need records from the vet's office in order to see them? What is your price for check up examinations?
It is definitely preferable to have records from a previous vet, especially if there are any ongoing medical conditions. Most vaccines are given once per year, so proof isn’t necessary unless it has been less than a year. Exams and vaccines vary in cost depending on your area. In my practice in New York City, they typically end up being about $100 for an exam and two vaccines. I hope this helps!

How can you tell the age of a dog?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Estimating age in a dog is based on a lot of factors such as the teeth. It is not possible to evaluate this in pictures. This would require an examination but keep in mind that even then, it would only be an estimation of the age. She is adorable! Best of luck!

Hi there. There is no way for us to age him without looking at his teeth. That being said, he appears to be between 6 and 8 weeks of age. You can take him to any local vet and they will age him for you. If you just got him from the side of the road he likely needs vaccinations and deworming urgently - you should have that done as soon as possible.

Yes, a vet can examine Lola and give an approximate age. I would have her seen by a vet to have this done but to also get a health check. Sometimes animals from these large chain stores are not in the best health.

I would like to know if you could give me a rough guess as to how old my puppy is please I have been told he looks a lot younger than 8 weeks. He also seems like he hasn't got his full site as well he can see stuff but not from far away
It is impossible to age a pup from pictures, especially without any indication of breed etc. Your vet ir vet nurse may be able to provide some indication from a dental exam as teething is quite predictable in the majority of dogs. Sight and balance would not be expected to be fully developed by 8 weeks

I don't think my puppy is 8 weeks old I just got him
I am not able to tell from the picture how old your puppy is. The best way to get an accurate age estimate is to have a veterinarian evaluate the puppy. If the puppy’s teeth have erupted then he is at least 6 weeks old. It would also be helpful to know his breed, how much he weighs now, and how big the parents were. I hope this helps. We cannot tell you how old the dog is just by looking at a photo. All I can tell you is that if he has all his adult teeth then he is at least 6 months old.
