My puppy is bleeding from his penis. Should I take him to the vet?

Pet's info: Dog | Rottweiler | Male | unneutered | 5 months and 1 day old | 90 lbs

my 9 month out Rottweiler pup is bleeding from is penis. his pee isn't bright red. but out of no where I keep finding blood spots on my floor including small blood clots. and I seen that around the opening there is blood but no redness for swelling

Oh no, poor Kyro! It's certainly not normal that he is bleeding form his penis, and he could have a severe UTI, bladder stones, or may have eaten something toxic causing it. Given his young age and the fact that I can't see him in person to say he will be ok or not, the best thing to do is take him into a vet now. The vet can diagnose what is causing the bleeding and how best to treat it. Good luck, I hope this helps!

Bleeding is concerning, and it could be a UTI, bladder stones, a disease like leptospirosis, an injury, a problem with coagulation, or toxin ingestion causing the bleeding. Without seeing him in person, I can't say if he will be ok to wait, so I'd take him into an ER vet now to be safe.

We picked up a male stray he extremely skinny and I've noticed that he's been dripping blood from his penis . What could he have? The camera quality is bad but it is definitely blood I've also noticed it on my floors
It is hard to see from the picture, but if it is blood coming from the penis I would be concerned about a urinary tract infection and/or bladder stones. Since you just found him it would be a good idea to take him to the vet to get checked out anyways, and you can bring a samppe of his urine so they can check it for infection. If he does have a bladder infection it can be treated with antibiotics. If he has bladder stones, often times these need to be removed by surgery.

Poor Sheru! I'm wondering if he's neutered or not. In dogs who aren't neutered, prostate problems are a very likely cause of bleeding from the penis. These problems include benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostatitis, and prostate cancer. The bleeding could also be caused by leptospirosis, bladder tumors, trauma, a UTI, or bladder stones. I would take him into your vet today for an exam especially since he is also vomiting. Your vet can do a rectal exam to see if his prostate is enlarged, and can do x-rays, routine blood tests, and a urinalysis to see if he has a UTI or bladder stones. If he does have a problem with his prostate, neutering him is one of the recommended treatments. Best of luck.

Poor Bruzer! I am concerned for him. There are several things that could cause this like an urinary tract infection, prostate infection, bladder stones, an injury on the penis or inside the prepuce, a urethral prolapse and more. I think he needs to be looked at again by your vet and more diagnostics done. Your vet should be able to do a prostate exam, an urinalysis, and a thorough exam of the penis and prepuce. They should be able to do an ultrasound or X-rays of the bladder if needed. Bleeding like this is definitely not normal and needs to be addressed. I hope this helps!

My staff puppy is continuously bleeding from his penis he have already seen a vet i just want to know what the chances are that it is fatal?
Poor guy. It would have to be a pretty major arterial bleed that doesn’t stop for this to drain his blood supply enough to be fatal. Without seeing how much this is bleeding it is hard to say for sure, but it is unlikely if it is a small vessel bleed. Just get the bleeding to stop as soon as you can and follow all your vets instructions for after care to ensure it doesn’t start bleeding again. If there is a cut there then sutures and ligation of the blood vessel by your vet should take care of it. I wish you the best of luck with Boyce. Take care.

These lumps along side his penis are likely the bulbourethral glands, which are a normal part of a dog's anatomy. They will appear when the dog is aroused. Bleeding from the penis is not normal, however, and Blacky has to see a vet right away, especially if he is in pain. He should have tests done, such as routine blood tests, a urinalysis, and possibly x-rays. This bleeding could be caused by a protastic adenocarcinoma, so a rectal exam should be done as well. I see that your dog is not neutered - I'm not sure how old he is, but in middle-aged or older unneutered males it is common to see blood dripping from the penis as a symptom of an [enlarged prostate](https://www.petcoach.co/dog/condition/prostate-enlargement/). That is normally the first thing that I would check out in a dog with this problem. Other possible causes include an injury or tumor on the penis or the penile sheath, a bladder or prostate infection, bladder stones, kidney disease, or even a systemic bleeding disorder. I would recommend taking him to a vet for an exam - they will probably want to collect a urine sample for testing, check his prostate during a rectal exam, and examine his penis closely outside the sheath to look for any problems. From there, x-rays and ultrasound can be used to look at the prostate, if needed. He could have an infection and need an antibiotic. Keep the area clean, dry, and prevent him from licking the area until you can take him to the vet. If the bleeding seems excessive or he becomes lethargic than he should be seen immediately to rule out a clotting problem. .

Hello, sorry to hear about Tyson. There are a couple of reasons that can cause male dogs to bleed from their penis. Dogs can acquire infections of their prepuce, they can prolapse their urethra, they can have masses on their penis, or they can have paraphimosis. I would recommend having Tyson seen by his veterinarian soon to ensure he is not in pain or in need of medications to treat his condition. In the interim, keep him calm and monitor his bleeding.
