My dog has swollen bumps and a swollen eye. Should I see a vet now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 7 years and 9 months old | 20 lbs

My dog usually gets small swollen bumps around his body but I never knew what caused them. They eventually go away so I didn't worry. Last night he had a small bump on his upper right eye. This morning he had a swollen eye. Should I take him to the vet?

It could be that Lovey is suffering from an allergic reaction causing these swollen bumps around his body. It could be an environmental allergy causing these bumps, but without seeing him in person, I can't say for certain. I am concerned he now has a swollen eye, as he could have injured his eye or have an eye infection. To answer your question, yes definitely take him into the vet today. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it is considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I would take him into the vet today. Good luck, I hope this helps!
