My dog's eye healed, but now has a brown pigment spot. Is it normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Male | unneutered | 3 years old | 30 lbs

There was a little red raised bump on my dog's eye. I took him to vet and he gave me eye drops and a vitamin supplement. Now, after a week of treatment, the red bumb has disappeared. But there appears to be a big light brown pigment spot on his eye. Is this part of normal healing process or is there something serious? Should I be concerned?

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. Previous eye trauma can lead to scar tissue formation on the cornea, which can sometimes become a dark pigment. As long as the eye is not red and Otis does not seem to have eye pain, I would hust monitor this for now. If it becomes larger or new symptoms develop, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine him so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
