My dog's ears hurt, he hates meds, and won't let me touch him. Help!

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | 12 lbs

My dog has been crying and scratching at his ears to the point they bleed. He’s 5 months old and ever since we took him to the vet to get ear medication he hates taking it and gets crazy and jumpy. I even tried to trim his nails a bit and before he used to be okay with it but now he’s absolutely terrified. I don’t want to hurt my pet and I don’t want him to think I’m hurting him either. He just wouldn’t let us touch him at all.

Poor Canelo! Ear infections can be very painful. I would recommend asking your veterinarian about one of the long lasting ear infection treatments that do not require you to medicate them at home. There are a few on the market now, but here is one of the them ( https://osurnia.com/ ). We certainly don't want to ruin your relationship with Canelo, so I would recommend having your vet do all treatments until this infection is resolved. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using PetCoach.
