Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 1 year and 6 months old | 8 lbs
We noticed a bump on our cat's face last night. It's not big, but definitely would have noticed if it'd been there before yesterday. Should we be taking her to the vet? It kind of looks like a goose egg, and she seems normal besides not wanting it inspected... She and the older cat aren't best of friends (she thinks they are!), but they don't usually actually hurt one another. A scratch sometimes. A bit of the bump is a little red but can't find evidence she really bled... Thoughts? Thanks!

I would recommend having your vet examine Mochi to see what is going on. It looks like there is a little hair loss as well. If your other cat scratched her and some of the bacteria from the claw punctured the skin, you may not see any blood, but she may have an abscess under the skin that needs to be treated. An abscess can be red and painful, so that may be why she does not want it touched or inspected. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
