My dog ate kibble with a dead Asian lady beetle. Is it poisonous?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | spayed | 10 years and 2 months old | 3.6 lbs

Bella ate remaining kibble from last night this morning. Noticed she had few pieces left, when went to get more, noticed dead Asian lady beetle in Bowl!! Remaining pieces were a bit stuck to Bowl. Do not believe she ate beetle but could it have secreted something poisonous on her food? Do I need to be worried?

Asian Lady Beetles can release a substance that is irritating to the mouth, but are not considered poisonous. So, if Bella is drooling or foaming at the mouth, she may have ingested some of that substance, but if all appears normal, then I would doubt that she did. If she does not want to eat or starts drooling, then I would certainly have your veterinarian examine her mouth to be safe. Good luck! I hope that was helpful and that Bella is fine.
