My dog has a small black growth on her eyelid. Does it need treatment?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 3 years and 11 months old

I've noticed a small black growth on my dogs upper eyelid. It seems to have appeared over the past week or so. When I first noticed it, I though it was some dirt and tried to scratch it away but it bled a little bit (not sure if that is helpful information for differentiation or not). I am wondering if this is something that requires treatment or will go away naturally. She has not had any behavioral changes and does not seem to notice it. There is also no excess discharge that I am aware of.

It's probably not going to go away by itself and it will probably continue growing, causing more and more problems. for this reason i recommend having it checked by your vet ASAP, it will probably need to be removed surgically.
