My dog has an irritated snout bump. Is it serious or just anxiety?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund miniature | Female | unspayed | 11 months and 24 days old | 12 lbs

My mini dachshund had a white hairless bump on her snout, is has grown larger in the course of two months, it looks irritated because she has separation anxiety and began picking at it. We cannot afford a lot in surgery and blood work. We aren’t sure what to do. Please help.

A picture would be extremely helpful. If you can, try reposting with a picture. Based on age and location, It is completely possible that this is a benign wart or benign histiocytoma that does not need surgery or bloodwork at all. I would address the separation anxiety with your vet though because in my experience it actually worsens- not improves- with age. A little anti-anxiety medication can go a long way! Best of luck to you and Saydee!
