My dog is shaking and anxious after outside with belly bites. Why?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | English Bulldog | Female | spayed | 6 years and 3 months old | 65 lbs

My dog has been acting anxious after coming in from outside. She lays down and shakes and whimpers after going out to go potty. It takes her a couple hours to calm down. I haven’t found anything new or unusual in her outdoor space. I have found on her belly she has what look like a bunch of ant bites

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. It is possible that this behavior is due to the fact that she is uncomfortable. What you are describing sounds as if Winnie may be dealing with a skin infection or skin allergy. I would start using the below recommended products and see if this helps. If the behavior continues and the bumps do not go away, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine her so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further. 1. Douxo PS Chlorhexidine Combination shampoo and bathe twice weekly until resolved 2. Malacetic conditioning spray and apply to the affected area twice daily until resolved 3. Welactin omega 3 fish oil capsules for canines 4. Essential 6 spot on by Dermoscent *All of the above recommended products can be found online quite easily
