How do you crate train an adult dog? We have had Penny since October, she was fine out of her crate up until this point. She panics, salivates, and tries to escape when we crate her. We give her toys treats puzzles and calming treats none of which seem to work. She has begun to chew and potty in the house so we need to crate her but she panics and freaks in her crate. We are worried she'd destroy a room if we closed her in it instead what should we do? Calming treats don't work for her.

It sounds like Penny could really benefit from a consultation with a veterinary behaviorist as well as some Anti anxiety medications such as clomiprine or fluoxetine. Maybe even trazadone before you leave the house. I would encourage you to discuss these options with your veterinarian. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
