My Dog, Ruby, is having issues when she is going to poo outside. Its been happening for a while now where she begins the turning process. This morning she did 45 turns and then stops, her ears go down and tail drops between her legs and suddenly she is absolutely terrified and she won’t poo. I take her to a field where is wide open but secure and I let her off the lead. When we get home, she starts whining straight away to get back out and often poos straight away.

I would recommend having a veterinarian take a look at her. There could be a few different things going on with Ruby. She can have full anal glands which can be bothering her when she is trying to defecate. Another thing is her back may be bothering her so when she tries to position she can't. Your veterinarian can evaluate both and either express her anal glands or provide her with medication to help her back. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
