Does walking my dog more prevent cancer and extend their life?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 3 months old

I take him twice now or sometimes once a day on lead walk his weight is 36kg bjt i read a post where i see that 4 yr old gsd has aggressive bone cancer now i am worried as i dont take him on long walks so should i increase his walk time to avoid any type of cancer and is it true long walks like 90 minutes of walk will going to increase his life span amd keep him away from any disease in future? Or lead walk is enough as in winters sometimes he skip walking for 4 days because of snow

In general, it should be fine to walk Bruno either once or twice a day. The number or length of his walks will not have any impact on whether he develops cancer later in life, unfortunately - cancer development is not related to exercise in dogs.
