My dog ate undercooked lima beans. Are they safe or toxic for dogs?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 8 years and 3 months old

Hi. I cooked some baby lima beans tonight and fed some to my dogs. They weigh around 15 and 23 lbs. When I ate some I realied the beans were not cooked all the way. I read that it could actually kill your dogs if they get sick on them. So I tried to induce vomiting with peroxide (yes 3%), but it was old so it didn't work. Is it going to be ok or am I in trouble of hurting them? I'm alone and have not money or car to take them to a vet

Baby Lima beans toxicity is inactived by moist heat, and is also related to the dose of consumption. However, there are no resources I can find that list a toxic dose. I expect that even if they weren’t soft that the boiling you did would likely inactivate the toxin. However, if you have any concerns please have them seen by a veterinarian. Best of luck and Thank You for using Pet Coach.
