Why does my outdoor cat have a rough, gray, hairless patch on his shoulder?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 2 months old | 8.5 lbs

My cat (1 year old male) has a weird rough hairless patch on his left shoulder. He spends half the day outside. But he doesn't go very far. It has a dehydrated bumpy appearance. And it is gray in color.

This could be demodex or other mites, from rubbing/catching on something, a small skin infection, or something else. See your vet to get a better diagnosis and the right treatment. Best of luck to you and Benito!
