Why is my dog licking his leg and getting round spots/sores?

Pet's info: Dog | American Staffordshire Terrier | Male | neutered | 80 lbs

My dog had round and oval spots on one of his hind legs. He did catch a squirrel earlier today and had some scratches on his face that I cleaned up. Hubby thinks this is from that but I am not convinced. He has been licking his hind legs recently but I just noticed the sores.

Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! From your pictures it looks like Blu has hives. Hives are usually due to an allergic reaction to something in the environment or an insect bite. Hives are ideally treated with steroids and antihistamines. Read this article about Benadryl.
