My dog is throwing up bloody, slimy vomit. What should I do?

My dog is a 4 year old Bichon Frise. About 3 weeks ago he threw up, dark slimy, no chunks. Threw up in 3 different places within a couple of minutes. This morning he threw up again pink, bloody, slimy vomit, twice within a couple of seconds. His stomach does not feel bloated. Pet's info: Dog | Bichon Frise | Male | neutered | 3 years and 11 months old | 30 lbs

Hi there! Thanks for letting us take care of you today! When there is evidence of blood in the vomit, that raises concern for things like a gastrointestinal ulcer, gastrointestinal tumor, severe gastroenteritis, foreign body ingestion, among other possibilities. Some tests that are usually run include bloodwork (CBC and chemistry panel +/- coagulation profile) and abdominal ultrasound. Thoracic/cervical radiographs may follow. Further diagnostics will be based on the findings up to that point. Treatment will be based on findings. I do think that this warrants an evaluation as soon as possible as he may be getting dehydrated. Keeping my fingers crossed that everything will be fine with Osito!
