My dog has blood/mucus in stool, gurgling stomach, no appetite. Why?

There is a little blood and mucus in my dog's stool. Its stomach gurgles very frequently accompanied with lack of appetite. What could be the reason and is there any home remedy for it?

I'm sorry Max isn't well! He could be suffering from a foreign body, severe diarrhea from eating something rotten, hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, or intestinal worms causing the blood and mucus in his stool as well as the gurgling stomach and lack of appetite. When a dog has blood in the stool, it's time to see a vet to diagnose the cause of it because blood in the stool can be very serious. Home remedies are not recommended in these cases due to that, so I would take Max into a vet today. Good luck, I hope this helps!

It sounds as Mia is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an antibiotic course and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

My dog started throwing up blood today an he his on meds. What could be making him throw up blood
Poor Max! Throwing up blood is always concerning - this could be caused by a number of things, including a bleeding stomach ulcer, severe gastroenteritis, pancreatitis, a foreign body in the stomach, a systemic bleeding disorder, or even stomach cancer. This symptoms is always very serious and warrants an immediate vet visit, so I would recommend taking Max to the vet right away for an exam. He/she can do blood work and x-rays if needed to help determine the problem and get him started on appropriate treatment.

My wee 6 and half week poppy it unwell been to vets last two day but he starting to have a wee bit of blood in his poo. What should we do
Poor Max! This blood in the poop could be due to intestinal worms, a foreign body, or something more serious such as parvovirus. Given that he has been unwell that past few days, I would be concerned that he could have parvovirus. Parvo is a life threatening infection of young puppies that does not have a cure, and can only be treated symptomatically. I'm not sure if the vet did a parvo snap test, but I would recommend taking him into the vet now for an exam. The vet can determine what is causing the blood in his feces, and how best to treat it.

You are right to be concerned. This is not normal and I'm also concerned about this bloody, mucusy poop. Since he's feeling fine you can wait until tomorrow but I would bring Max in for an exam and have them check a fecal sample in the morning. This can be from many reasons including parasites, a reaction to a drug, colitis, hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, or something causing bleeding in the intestinal tract. They will also want to check to make sure he is hydrated and not anemic and that his blood is clotting normally. Once they get a diagnosis they can then start the appropriate treatment. If your dog is active/energetic and isn't having vomiting, and the stool isn't diarrhea, you can try feeding him a bland diet (such as plain cooked rice and boiled chicken breast) for a day or two. If he becomes lethargic at any point, has a painful belly, starts vomiting, stops eating again, the stools become diarrhea, or the blood/mucus in his still is still present in a few days or is increasing in amount, then I would seek veterinary care.

Poor guy. This is very concerning indeed. Bloody diarrhea in older pets should always be concerning for an owner and lead to some testing to ensure there is nothing serious going on internally, such as intestinal masses, pancreatitis, or severe colitis. Some other possible causes are intestinal parasites or a malabsorption problem. If you have already gone through the proper steps of withholding food and feeding a bland diet (boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese OR Purina EN Gastrointesitnal) for more than 24 hrs and he is still not better, then this is an indicator that he needs additional help through your local vet. It is good that he is still eating and drinking water, so he is relatively stable for today, but he should definitely get seen by tomorrow if he isn't 100%. The vet can run some testing (fecal exam, +/- bloodwork, +/- x-rays) to diagnose the underlying condition and treatment (i.e. Metronidazole for the loose bloody stool, Rx for bland diet canned dog f

My dog is not eating and is pooping a bit watery and slight bloody. I cannot get him to a vet because of flooding. What can I do from home to help him?
Poor Max! And I'm sorry that you are stuck due to flooding. Be sure he drinks plenty of water (it's very important he stays hydrated), and rest him as much as possible. You can offer him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day. If he refuses to eat that and continues to poop watery and bloody feces, I would get him into the vet as soon as you can. I hope this helps!

Blood in the stool can be caused by problems with the colon (lower bowel), rectum, or perianal structures like the anal sacs. Mucus on the stool usually suggests some inflammation of the colon. There could be underlaying inflammation due to stress (change in diet, changes in household, etc), infection, a perineal hernia (more common in intact male dogs), or possibly a mass (hopefully not because your kid is young). The best next step is to have your vet perform a rectal exam to assess the rectum and anal sacs. If this is normal that will help to rule out some common issues and make you feel better. Then your vet can recommend monitoring or some therapy to help resolve the issue. I hope this helps and thank you for using Boop by Petco!

My dog has diarrhea and blood in her stool. I can also hear loud gurgling noises in her stomach area.
Poor dog. Bloody loose stool is called hemorrhagic gastroenteritis (HGE) and is commonly caused by stress on the GI tract, although other possibilities are still possible. Which is why it is always recommended to get your pet checked by your veterinarian for a full exam, to make sure they are stable. And then the pet is typically prescribed an antibiotic (i.e. Metronidazole) and a probiotic to help the pet recover from this episode. Care has to be taken in the future to avoid stressful events, and also to limit food changes that can upset the GI (gastrointestinal) tract again, causing another bout of HGE. Dog urine or stool containing blood and mucous..he is active..eating less ...vomited today..what is the cause? Is it life threatening?
Blood in the stool and diarrhea could be caused by parasites, change in diet toxin ingestion, infectious diseases, blockage in the intestines caused by ingestion of a foreign body, or a mass/growth in the gastrointestinal tract. In the case of an unneutered male dog, prostate disease is a possibility as well. Blood in the urine could be due to a urinary tract infection, crystals in the urine, stones in the urinary tract, a mass, toxin ingestion, or trauma to the area. It is important that you have Tom seen by a veterinarian immediately to help determine the cause of the blood and to start treatment. Diarrhea and blood in the stool can lead to dehydration and anemia, and can be very dangerous if left untreated. If you notice him straining to urinate/unable to produce urine, this is a medical emergency and can be life threatening.
