My husky throws up yellow liquid weekly, but acts normal. Why?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Male | 2 years and 3 months old | 43 lbs

My 2 year old Siberian Husky has been throwing up yellow liquid once or twice a week for the last month or so. Other than that her behavior seems to be normal. She is eating, playing, and exercising the same. In the past she had thrown up this yellow liquid but it was less frequent, maybe 1 every 6-8 weeks. Do you know what typically causes are for this?

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. There are many causes of vomiting but most commonly the cause can be directly linked to the diet or an imbalance of the gut bacteria. I typically recommend switching the diet to something different and transition over a 7-10 day period gradually reducing the old and increasing the new food until you have completely switched Mina over to 100% new food. I would recommend a food such as Science Diet or Royal Canin and use one of the salmon formulas. Allow at least 4 weeks to see if this food trial helps. After this food trial, if you are still seeing the same problem, I would recommend adding in a probiotic such as Purina Fortiflora, which can be found online or at your local pet store. If the vomiting continues despite the dietary change and addition of probiotic to the food, I would recommend that you have a veterinarian examine Mina so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further!
