My cat died after meds. Could her medications be the reason?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Longhair | Female | spayed | 12 years and 1 month old | 8 lbs

Can 1 dose of 3.75 mg of Mirtazapine (last Tuesday, Feb 6), 15mg of Prednisolone every 24 hours (last Thurs, Feb 8 - Thurs, Feb 15), Clavamox (Feb 8-15), 1 vet administered enema (Feb 14), 1mg Valium (Feb 14) kill an 8lb cat? Cat not eating Feb 7. Feb 8 ultrasound showed swollen lymph node in abdomen. Biopsy = no cancer. Feb 7-16 cat not eating (force fed), couldn’t walk, in pain. Euthanized Feb 16. Feeling very guilty and upset. Is it possible she died because of all the meds?

Hello. I am very sorry for your loss. I do not think any of the medications by themselves, or in combination contributed to Kassie's death. None of the medications were given long enough to cause any kind of toxicity level, & all were appropriate for trying to help her. Please accept my condolences for your loss.
