My dog with pancreatitis won't eat. Vet closed. Can he have wet food?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | 13 years and 2 months old | 70 lbs

Okay so I'm spending the last day with my dog. He is 13 and was throwing up constantly through the night. He spent two days in emergency on IV. He has pancreatitis and can't keep anything down. The vet is now closed and he is VERY uncomfortable. He hasn't ate in 6 days. They gave me some heavy pain medication but im wondering.. is there anything else I can do?!? He won't drink water but i think he coukd eat some wet food. Will the wet food hurt him more?

Hello. I am so sorry for your poor Rex. If you think he will eat a bit of the wet food then go ahead & see if he will take it. But I doubt he will be interested as sick as he has been. Make sure you do give him the pain medication as prescribed. Other than that, give him your whole heart & make him feel as loved as possible. I know how much this is tearing you apart.
