My outdoor cat is coughing/wheezing; is it safe for me while pregnant?

My boyfriend's cat has been coughing/wheezing for about a week now, we thought it was a hairball but nothing ever surfaced. He's an outside cat that comes inside our house twice a week but stays in our room, he also is dirty and has multiple scabs plus hisses when we try petting him. I am pregnant so I wanted to know if it's ok being around the cat? Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 6 months old | 20 lbs

I am sorry Kaos is not feeling well. I would recommend taking Kaos to a vet to determine why he is having abnormal breathing. outdoor cats are more exposed to disease because they come into contact with more. I would recommend not cleaning a litter box while you are pregnant due to possible toxoplasmosis in an out door cat. I think a vet visit would be best to make sure Kaos is okay but also he is not carrying any type of infectious disease. I hope that helps
