My new cat has a wet, oozing eye. Can I bathe her before the vet?

I adopted this cat today.her eye look ls like this.the previous owner said that the eye is ok now but it's oozing a little and is wet.I will take her to vet but is it ok to take her to bath for now? Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 8 months and 15 days old

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, ulceration or infection, among other conditions. I highly recommend that you have Rissoto evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible for further assessment and treatment as this looks severe. Further therapy would be based on the findings. I recommend avoiding a bath at this time until the eye is evaluated. Good luck and best wishes!
