My dog has had diarrhea for 4 days, should I take him to the vet?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 11 years and 7 months old | 22 lbs

My dog Chico has had the squirts for 4 days what could we do for him

I recommend giving Chico a bland diet, boiled chicken and white rice. If he becomes lethargic, there is blood or he isn't eating then I recommend taking Chico to a veterinarian. Also if the diarrhea isn't resolving after another day I would consider taking him to a veterinarian. They can make sure he is not dehydrated and run a stool sample to make sure he doesn't have intestinal parasites. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

    Thank you for submitting your question regarding Chico. If he is eating, drinking and acting normal without vomiting, then it is likely ok to monitor him. The diarrhea can take a bit of time to resolve. If he seems to be getting worse or starts vomiting again, then he will need to be seen a second time. I hope this information helps!
