How to balance a household with a heavy chewer and a light chewer? We have a four year old husky who is very gentle with his toys. Since he was a puppy he has had an open toy box that he can take toys from as he likes. We recently got an Aussie puppy with a chewing problem. He literally eats all toys, fabric, stuffing, plastic, all of it. How can we allow our older dog to play with his favorite toys without constant supervision to keep the puppy from eating them and risking getting sick?

This can be a frustrating issue. Unfortunately, there isn't an easy solution that will make your Husky happy. Since Sora is such an aggressive chewer, you will need to keep all tempting toys away from him to prevent him from ingesting foreign material, as this can cause an intestinal obstruction. You can certainly allow your Husky to have his favorite toys under direct supervision, or separate the two dogs into different rooms for a period of time, such as allowing your Husky an hour per day of uninterrupted toy time. I hope that all goes well!
