My dog gets hyper and scratches after flea spray. Is it normal?

I've been using advantage flea&tick spray for my dogs, whenever I spray my dogs they get hyper and start scratching and bitting themself. They run around like crazy. I spray them from a distance and I don't use alot. Is that normal? Should I continue using it ? Or is there anything else I can use to kill fleas and ticks? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 3 years and 4 months old

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I think the topicals sometimes cause tingling or burning. My dog didn’t like the advantix spot on. I really like the new oral flea/tick medications, monthly nexgard or simparica or every 3 month Bravecto. I hope this helps!
