Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 14 days old | 9 lbs
Hi. I took my kitten to the vet because he is sick. The vet gave Oliver a medicine. Now, the vet told me that I should not to let my kitten outside for about a week. When I got home, I just put him in a room where he can rest peacefully. Anyways, after two days he started to eat a lot again. He also started to go outside. Now, I don't know if can I let my kitten to go outside again? (since he is fine now).

Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Sorry to hear that Oliver was sick but I am glad he is feeling better now. Your vet probably told you to keep Oliver inside for a week so that he is not spreading disease to other cats outside. Either that or your vet did not want his immune system stressed with all the potential pathogens that he could encounter outside. Even when they are better after a few days they could still be contagious to other animals. I would wait the entire week before you let him outside like your vet recommended. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

There is always inherent danger when letting cats outside. This is increased when cats aren’t feeling well, or painful as they can’t escape as quickly and are more vulnerable. If your feel he is back to his normal self then I think you can allow him his normal activities. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
