My cat can't pee, but no blockage. What else could be causing it?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 12 lbs

my cat is three years old , he is at the vet he has not been able to urinate by him self since saturday the doc. is doing it for him. he said he found no blockages what could it be.

Besides a blockage, it could be a ruptured urinary bladder or acute kidney failure. Both of these would also cause socks to have other signs of illness (i.e. vomiting and lethargy). Other than that, the only other possibilities are severe dehydration, or an avulsion of the ureters. Again, these would be expected to cause other signs of illness.
