HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Areial! Treating for heartworm disease is very serious and painful. I do not recommend giving Areial anything with out talking to your Vet first. The AHS (American Heartworm Society) recommends prednisone (a steroid) to be given after injections. If she is on prednisone then giving her human medications (like aspirin) could make her very sick. I recommend contacting your vet and asking for pain medications and anti-nausea medications. Also the AHS protocol is 3 injections: the first one then 1 month later the 2nd and 3rd 1 day apart. I hope this helps and I wish Areial the very best!
