Can a horse's hoof grow back after total loss of the coffin bone?

can a horse who has lost it's hoof and coffin bone ever grow a viable hoof again?

Hello. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Great question. A damaged hoof can often grow and be viable again depending on the severity of the injury and where the injury is located (if the coronary band or the laminae are damaged then regrowth is difficult). If the coffin bone is fractured it does have the ability to heal; again, depending on the severity of the fracture. But, total loss of the hoof and coffin bone, it is not possible to "re-grow".
