There is also a slight possibility that he may have an upper airway infection, in which a short course of antibiotics can clear. The vet will check for all these possibilities with diagnostic testing.

Oh my. He may have a foreign object stuck in his throat, or even a mass in the upper airway or esophagus is possible here. It is best to get him seen by your vet and have him evaluated first. He may also need to have some radiographs or an endoscopy done to check for any abnormal lumps or tumors. I wish you all the best with your pet Phenix and hope he feels better soon. Take care.

Poor Pumpkin! It definitely sounds like something isn't right. Yes, I would recommend taking him to the vet today for an exam - it's very concerning that he doesn't want to eat, as it can be dangerous for cats to go more than a day or two without eating since they can develop serious liver problems from this. Your vet can do a thorough oral exam to see if there is something stuck in his throat, or if he has a respiratory infection or other problem causing these symptoms. He may need an antibiotic or other medication to treat the problem depending on what is found.
