My dog's urine is black. Is it a UTI, bleeding, or serious? Vet needed?

My dog's urine started to have a blackish color this morning. Is this UTI? Is there somewhere bleeding? Should I rush him to the vet?

It certainly isn't normal for a dog's urine to have a black color to it, and yes it can indicate that Black has a UTI or bladder stones. I see that he isn't neutered. In dogs who aren't neutered, prostate problems could also be a cause of the color of his urine. These problems include benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostatitis, and prostate cancer. To answer your question, yes I would definitely take him into a vet today. Good luck, I hope this helps!

Bella's feces are perfectly normal. However the bloody urine is a serious concern. Blood in urine is usually a sign of a severe Urinary Tract Infection, possible bladder stones or, rarely at this age, a cancerous growth or polyps. Bella needs to be seen by a veterinarian for an exam, a urinalysis and possibly blood work to rule out kidney disease. She will need antibiotics and pain medicine. Please take her to a vet ASAP.

This behavior can actually be a sign of a UTI or bladder stones. I'd have Monty seen by a vet for this for blood work and a urinalysis. Using these tests, the vet can diagnose if he has one of the things I mentioned above, and can treat him. I'd take him into a vet today. I hope this helps!

Why would my dog pee out blood
Hello. This could be a result of a serious bladder infection, prostatitis, urinary bladder stones, a bleeding polyp/mass or trauma. This definitely warrants a trip to your veterinarian ASAP. I agree, I feel like there is more. UTIs are very uncommon in male dogs due to the length of their urethra. Bacteria would have to travel a looooong way to get from the penis up to the bladder before more urine came down to flush it away. On the flip side, female dogs are very prone to UTI because their urethra is very short from the outside to the inside, and is much closer to their rectum. More common causes of urinary issues in dogs includes urinary bladder stones, prostatitis, kidney infection/pyelonephritis, and sometimes infections of the testicles. I would recommend a thorough physical exam with palpation of the prostate (if possible, sometimes our fingers just aren't long enough!) and x-rays to look for stones. If the prostate is normal and there are no stones, then bloodwork to look at kidney function and/or a urine culture would be indicated. A less common cause for blood in urine would be bladder cancer or bleeding disorders. If you see Bubba straining to urinate, or if he d

Dog starting acting weird last night. He woke up today peeing blood. Hasn’t thrown up. But he did eat and drink some water. We even gave him water with apple v in it. He’s just lethargic. And I’m worried.
Poor guy. I too am worried that he could have a bleeding disorder, urinary stones, or a raging urinary tract infection. I would highly recommend taking him to your vet as soon as you can. They need to do some bloodwork and a urinalysis on him to determine what his current health status is. Best case scenario is that he has a raging UTI, which typically responds to antibiotics. It is possible that Tank has a prostate problem or a urinary tract disorder such as a bladder infection, bladder stones / crystals, bladder tumor, etc. If he is otherwise normal and seems ok, I would recommend monitoring for now. If the symptom worsens or does not resolve, then I would recommend having him examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I would also contact the original veterinarian and discuss with him / her over the phone what is going on with Tank as well. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Dog is bleeding from urethra and it has pus in it too. It is painful to touch also
It could be caused by either a urinary infection or prostate disease, you need to take him to the vet ASAP in order to get it checked and treated, if he is not neutered it's more likely to be a prostate condition, this will require neutering as part of the treatment.

Yes, I would definitely take Kahlua into an ER vet. I would be very concern that if she is trying to urinate and nothing is happening that she may have bladder stones. Those can cause a blockage in the urethra, which is fatal without treatment. It could also be a UTI, but as I said, it's quite concerning that she is trying to urinate with nothing coming out. Please take her into a vet right away.

Based on the signs, he could have a urinary tract infection and/or bladder stones. He should be examined by a vet to determine the cause. Your vet can test a urine sample for infection and then prescribe an antibiotic, if needed.

I am sorry to hear that your dog is experiencing this. Urinary tract infections would be the most common cause of dark red urine, but urinary bladder stones are also common and are more likely to lead to clots as well. Even less common but still a possibility would be urinary tract cancer. I would highly encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible.
