My Chihuahua foster Evie is 15 and weighs <4 lbs. She eats a lot but is losing weight. With an eye to keeping costs under control, what basic tests should this geriatric lovebug have besides diabetes and thyroid? Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 15 years and 1 month old | 4 lbs

Hi. For weight loss, we would want a CBC checked, a full chemistry to check liver/kidneys/electrolytes/and glucose, a thyroid, and a urine test. If those are all normal, xrays will need to be done in weight loss cases. Good luck
