My dog has a scabbed patch on her head after spay. What is it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 1 year and 4 months old | 10 lbs

I just noticed this on my dogs head last night coming home from a relatives house, but I think it’s been there for a while cause it looks like a scabbed up patch. She got spayed 2 weeks ago as well.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be an inflammatory or infectious lesion. It does warrant further evaluation. It may require a biopsy of the lesion or at least cytology to know what this represents. This is something that can be completed by your veterinarian. I recommend that you have Juju evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and treat accordingly. Good luck and have a good night!
