My cat is lethargic, has a fever, and meows from ear pain. Why?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Longhair | Male | neutered | 5 years and 9 months old | 9 lbs

My cat is meowing like something is chewing in his ear and it hurts him. Plus he's gotten lethargic and I think he's got a fever because his body feels hot.

Poor guy. A fever and lethargy in a cat can be a very serious thing. I would suspect he may have an internal conditon going on such as a parasitic infection, viral. Infection or bacterial infection. I would suggest getting Pew to your local vet right away for bloodwork and a urinalysis to start. Hopefully this will help narrow down the underlying issue so that we know how to best treat Pew so that he can hopefully recover from this. I wish you all the best and hope that your cat Pew feels better soon. Take care.
