How can I help my shy rescue cat be more social and affectionate?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 11 lbs

Aspyn was a rescue cat that I got a little over 6 months ago. She has never been the most social cat but is getting better everyday. Although she is making progress it’s very little and very slow. Is there anyway to get her to be more sociable and friendly? I know all cats are different and some are just not meant to be very affectionate. I was just wondering if you had any tips to get there. (She is very unresponsive to treats she could honestly care less about them)

You may want to consider adding in a few feliway diffusers. These are a natural pheromone to decrease stress in cats. Also there is a nice website I like that had good information on environmental enrichment in cats. www.drjeffnichol.com Best of luck and continue being patient. Most rescues I’ve had have taken close to a year to really adjust. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
