My cat has a sudden shoulder wound. Is it an abscess? What do I do?

Hi so my male cat snowflake has this on his right shoulder and it wasn't there earlier today but he has been in all day so I'm wondering is he got burned or what could cause this there is no puncture so what do I do

That picture looks like he may have a ruptured abscess. I suspect he may have had a fight or injury several days ago, but then it festered and finally ruptured today. I would encourage you to have him evaluated by a veterinarian soon. In the meantime I would use a warm water compress applied to the area twice a day for 5 minutes or so at a time.
