My dog has a red bump on his leg after blood work. Is it serious?

Hi my dog has a red bump on his leg, it came out after he had blood test done, he got poked three times. Should I be worried? Thank you

This could be a hematoma (when blood vessels burst and cause a blood-filled blister.) from being poked three times for blood. Typically these are not something to worry about and resolve on their own. Do not try to squeeze, and keep an eye on it. If it gets bigger or doesn't appear to be resolving over the next week, I'd take Oxley into the vet. I hope this helps!

The needle likely created a hematoma (blood collection under the skin) from puncturing a small blood vessel during the testing process. This should go away on its own. If it continues to grow in size or persist, I would have the veterinarian that performed the test originally recheck the area. If the mass does not go away, I would send out further testing to the laboratory to help confirm what the mass could be. With Peppa's age, it is likely benign or infectious versus cancerous but there is no way to tell unless a sample is interpreted at a lab further. I hope this helps! I was wondering what this bump is on my dogs back leg. It's starting to bleed now and i'm not exactly sure what to do.
Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question about Bobo. This bump could be a cyst that has now ruptured, or it would be a benign or malignant growth. It may be bleeding because he's been picking at it. Apply gentle pressure to stop the bleeding, then put a bandage on it to protect it. Take him into the vet in the morning to get it diagnosed and treated. Best of luck.

So I noticed this small red bump on my dogs leg. I'm concerned for my dog Sky. Would you have any suggestions just by my picture please? It has a little blood scab.
Hello, thank you for your question about Sky. Based on the photo you've attached it is possible that this lesion is secondary to a blood blister or cyst-like lesion. It could also be a mild skin infection. Dogs can develop skin masses/tumors such as mast cell tumors. I would recommend having Sky seen by your veterinarian so that they can examine the area and discuss the need for additional testing such as an impression of the area or collecting a small needle sample. what is this on my dogs thigh it’s filled with blood
This looks like it could be a hemangioma, which is a benign 'blood blister' type skin lesion, or it might be an insect bite or site of previous trauma. It would be a good idea to have your vet take a look in person if it has not resolved in the next week or so or if it seems to be bothering Bear.

Lesions like this should be checked out by the veterinarian. It sounds like the mass has been around for a while which is unusual. It could signify a skin tumor, a foreign body stuck under the skin, allergies or an abnormal hair follicle/pore. If it is a mass, the doctor will need to test it. Blister type masses are usually benign in a young dog but they can be a cancerous tumor called a mast cell tumor. these types of tumors need to be removed quickly. It’s always better to play it safe. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Moco! Due to his age, the appearance and the location it looks like a histiocytoma. Which is a benign mass in young dogs. They tend to resolve on their own in a few months but sometimes if they ulcerate, grow rapidly, become infected or bleed we recommend removing them. Another possibility is a mast cell tumor. Hello and thank you for your post! It is difficult to tell what these bumps are exactly, but what you are describing sounds like what we call a hemangioma. These bumps are typically benign if that is what these are. Dogs that are in the Sun a lot are more predisposed to developing hemangiomas. However, that being said, hemangiomas Can potentially turn into a malignant cancer. Hemangiomas can turn into what we call hemangiosarcomas of the skin. To prevent these from turning to malignant masses, you can have these easily removed or frozen off at your vet's clinic. Another possibility is an insect bite causing a blood blister. Hemangiomas typically will occur in the areas that you're describing but can show up anywhere. I would schedule an appointment with a vet if you are concerned and more are showing up to have them removed and to be sure of the suspected diagnosis. Just noticed this on my dog’s hind left leg. She is about 5 years old. It’s past 10pm and everywhere is closed and I feel terrible I didn’t notice this earlier. Any advice or comments? Will definitely take her to the vet asap but need something to go
Ouch! Definitely something that should be checked out by your regular vet ASAP. Certain types of tumors such as mast cell tumors, hemangiomas, injuries, blood blisters, etc can all appear like this, and so it should be looked at and biopsied to see what is going on. Until you can get to your vet in the morning, keeping Berkeley from licking or chewing on the spot with an Elizabethan (cone) collar is best to reduce any further injury or irritation.

My dog had a gumball size lump on his leg, a week later he started licking it (today) anf i looked, & it was hollowed out and it was bloody and pussy and deep.
This can be one of two things: 1) a small abscess that has ruptured. 2) a small tumor that did not have enough room to grow and therefore started to ulcerate and finally ruptured. Since it is on a leg and deep, you should have your veterinarian have a look at it, to see whether any vital structures are involved and whether it is a tumor that needs to be removed.

Hi, my dog has a small bump that looks like it was bleeding. I tried taking a damp paper towel and cleaning it but it's still very red.
IT could be a small infection, it could also be a lump (tumor), i recommend not touching it and just keeping an eye on it in the next couple weeks, if it does not resolve or gets bigger- take Gunner to the vet in order to get it treated.
