How can Petco help train my 2-year-old dog's excessive excitement?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | spayed | 2 years and 2 months old | 68 lbs

My dog is in need of more socialization, and training to help her curb her enthusiasm. She is 2 years old, so too old for puppy play time. She's sweet and healthy, but gets overly excited. Does petco have anything in the training category that would be a good fit for Her?

Mocha is very cute! Thanks for including a picture. Training is always recommended at any age! You will need to contact your local Petco to discuss which class will be best for Mocha, but in general puppy play time is only a short play time for young puppies. If Mocha has not done any classes yet, start with a basic obedience class and get her used to being in a small area with other dogs. If she does well with that and you want to get her more play time with other dogs, then I would look into a doggy day care near you since she likely has enough energy for a prolonged play time. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
